Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a member to come into the club?
Yes. As a club, our premises is open to members and their guests only. If you are not a member, you must visit with a member and be signed in when you arrive. Once you have been signed in on two separate occasions, we would expect you to sign up as a member yourself. If you have previously been a member, you are not able to be signed in as a guest.
What is the difference between full and social membership?
Full membership allows you to weigh fish, compete for trophies & pins and be entered into the record books. You will also receive cheaper entry into the tournaments. Social membership is for eating and drinking at the club only, with no fishing privileges.
Current prices for a season’s membership are: Full - $95, Couple (2 x Full) - $140, Social - $65, Youth (17-21yrs) - $35, Junior (11-16yrs) - $15, Smallfry (0-10yrs) - $10. Day memberships are available for $20 for those wishing to enter a tournament or weigh a fish. Please note payment must be made prior to fishing commencing, day membership cannot be purchased after the fish has been caught.
Our membership season runs 1 July to 30 June the following year in line with the NZSFC season. All memberships must be renewed on 1 July each year, regardless of when you signed up. Make sure you renew your membership on time each year to get a full 12 months!
You can apply for membership online here.
Can I visit the club by boat?
Yes. One of the great things about our club premises is that we are easily reachable by water from Pauanui and can give you temporary use of a visitor’s berth for the evening. If you’d like to visit us by boat, please email your current insurance certificate through to us (tairuafishingclub@gmail.com) showing your legal liability cover ($5m or more). Once we have this on file, you are able to use berth A1 to visit the Club. Please do not tie up in the fuel berth area or tie up in a berth that appears empty as this may be privately owned and you will be charged accordingly.
WHEN IS THE KITCHEN OPEN?
Food is available every night at the Club. You can view our current kitchen opening hours and the menu here.
